That's all I can say about last night!!! Thank you Bettie Blackheart for organizing, thank you my fantastic burlesque family and thank you lovely audience!!! I have "Kiss me Tiger" playing in my head and the vision of the seven "dwarfs" airhumping burned on my retinas...Amazing, absolutely amazing :)

Things to come

This week has, for parts of it at least, felt like drinking glue. I guess I jinxed it last weekend when I said I am happy at where I am :)  And don´t get me wrong - I am. Both workwise and on all other levels all is fine. I guess I´m going through some Autumn blues. 

Well, this weekend I get to shake my booty with my girls Sandy and Pepper - our new group number will premiere at the Finnish Burlesque Gala @ ravintola Kaisaniemi! I hope you have your tickets because I think it´s sold out. That´s going to be FAB, I´m so looking forward to seeing everyone there!!!

Weekend look

Tampere-Lappeenranta-Hellsinki...I am beat after the weekend! It was all good fun, but boy! I could sleep now. And I will. Since hubby was late from work we decided to skip the rockabilly dance class we would have been late for anyway and opted for  the opening of "Once upon a time" that I taped yesterday and sauna. Now I am SO ready for bed :) 

I know I kinda promised myself to save my new Stop Staring! dress for the wedding but I could not resist ... when the dress code for Saturday night´s dinner was casual chic, come on- if it´s not a call out for a small black dress than what is?!? Decided to try the dang victory rolls again, this time with another tough one for me: the fake Bettie bangs...as you can see the result wasn´t perfect but a sort of B-... Again, saved by the flower! And I have to say I´m giving up on the rats in the bangs vee-ry soon...I just can´t figure it out. This was done with a lot of teasing, hairspray and a pin to help with the rolling.

It´s a regular Mordor outside, very dark and rainy and gloomy. The dogs are carrying in kilos of sand and I´m sort of wishing for minus degrees already. Snow makes it more light and please remind me I said that when I moan about the snow in February :)

Kitsch! Part 2.

Well I have given you my fridge door, here is my downstairs toilet. Or "bathroom" is you´re an American. Though I never quite understood where the "bath" is :) It´s of course more pin up´s and also some posters from theatre plays and gigs and a crystal chandelier, my much loved poster from the Henry Miller museum in the Redwoods of a Henry Rollins reading there (that I missed, grrr...)...They truly are the Henry´s of my life. So mr.Rollins, if you are reading this please come back for another spoken word gig soon! 

I realized today that I really love my life right now. It might seem really corny (hey, the headline here was kitsch!) but it´s true. I am in a spot where I can actually enjoy the present and not just dream about things that will happen one day "soon". Not to say wonderful things aren´t happening soon because they are...The Finnish Burlesque gala, a wedding, a holiday week, a new glitter dress coming up, yes indeed! But today is a good day as well.

If your plans for Halloween are still open may I suggest to go to Tampere for the Horror&Tease show! Tickest can be bought at the Olivia Rouge shop and the wonderful Anna Fur Laxis is headlining! Facebook for the venue is here! I´m off to get myself ready for a dinner in Lappeenranta :) It´s a hike but will be worth it! Have a good weekend <3

Tampere- because I'm a lady

Spending the afternoon in Tampere with Olivia Rouge, who, according to herself, "is a lady". Also when trying to fit me in to a corset :) But she is, of course, as is she a riot and a half.
The outfit will be stupendous. Just do you know. Here's a sneaky peak!

Strong girls

My friend just posted this beautiful new video from pink on facebook. I do love that woman, she has a great voice, sassy attitude and she puts herself out there. I have been day-dreaming about taking acrobatics for a while now... Almost went to acroyoga with my honey but then work came in the way. This video, as I guess it tells a story about violence in a relationship, has some beautiful acrobatics in it. I wish I had her stamina and balance! On a more serious note, domestic violence is never acceptable no matter who it is who hits you. Phsycological violence can be as bad, with scars harder to see. It´s of course easy to say, but I do hope that if you, or someone you know, are being abused in any which way that you can find the strenght to find help. In Finland such places are e.g Turvakoti ("safehouses") that can be found in different cities and Tukinainen for rape- and sexual assault victims. 

Take action and participate in Slut Walk and Amnesty´s campaign against violence against women (in Finland) found here. Talk about it and help remove the guilt that still surrounds the victims. Also remember that men can also be victims not just offenders and the shame felt can, -if possible, be even bigger. Still all about old time gender roles, isn´t it?

Weekend shenanigans

Last weekend was filled with friends and sunshine. I got to try clownery at Mascha de Bordeaux's bachlorette party with Minna Kiveläs teachings... And as much as I love making an ass of myself at times I will leave clownery to people who can do it :) But it was fun! Now I suffer from a slight dose of insomnia, shall leave you with pictures (that I will tag tomorrow). Good night (hopefully)!
